Thanksgiving and the holiday season is fast approaching. That probably means life is about to get really busy for the next few months. From school concerts and gift shopping to loved ones flying into town and family traditions, the holidays can sometimes be just as stress-filled as they are fun-filled. We may not be able to take away all of the craziness about to ensue. However, we can definitely help you get ready for Thanksgiving so it will go off without a hitch in the area we know best: home appliances!

Considering that traditional American Thanksgivings typically consist of large groups of people eating equally large meals, we want to help you make sure your kitchen is ready to go before Turkey Day! Here are a few tips to make your holiday as stress-free as possible:

Oven

Many people, in an effort to be prepared, run their self-cleaning oven just before Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, this can often lead to broken parts on your oven. Instead, take a little bit of time prior to the holiday to clean the inside of your stove as well as wipe down your stovetop so that it’s ready to go before you start cooking. Be sure to also check that your oven is heating up properly.

Dishwasher

We’re sure you’ll be over-stuffing your belly on Thanksgiving. However, that doesn’t mean you have to do it to your dishwasher. When loading the dishwasher, make sure dishes have plenty of space for the water and detergent to reach them. Also, save yourself some time and don’t pre-wash your dishes (If you’re not sure why check out this article ).

Garbage Disposal

Don’t overdo it on putting stuff down the garbage disposal. While you might be tempted to put extensive food scraps down the disposal to aid in the cleaning-up effort, it may come back to haunt you through costly repairs or replacements. Avoid putting foods down the garbage disposal that are sticky or gooey (therefore, causing clogs). Also, avoid any type of oil, bones, shells, or big chunks of foods. Taking out an overflowing garbage can is always going to be cheaper than buying a new garbage disposal.

Fridge

Take some time before Thanksgiving to thoroughly clean out your fridge. You’ll want to make sure you have plenty of space for all of the dishes that will need to be refrigerated and still allow the fridge doors to completely shut.

And, of course, should you need any kitchen appliance repairs before the big day, give us a call! We’ll be happy to help and make sure your home is ready to host a Thanksgiving dinner to be remembered!
